How much do fogging services cost — and what drives the price up?
Fogging quotes vary wildly and it is rarely obvious why. Here is what actually sits behind the number, so you can compare two quotes properly and know which questions to push on.

What drives an attended fogging quote?
Travel and time on site come first — an operator's day is the main cost. Then room count and total volume, since chemical and cycle time scale with the space. Then timing: out-of-hours and weekend work costs more because the building has to be empty.
Preparation matters too. A ward that has been cleaned and cleared fogs quickly; a cluttered store room full of stock does not.

Why does per-visit pricing get expensive so fast?
Because the mobilisation cost is paid every time. Travel, set-up and paperwork are largely fixed per visit, so treating four rooms costs nearly as much as treating one — and treating one room next week costs the whole fee again.
A machine on site has already paid its mobilisation cost. The marginal cost of one more room is the chemical.
What does the same money buy on a lease?
Roughly one attended visit per month equals one month of lease. On that lease you can treat 60, 100 or 150 rooms rather than one visit's worth, plus have the machine available for an emergency at five minutes' notice.
That is why organisations rarely go back to per-visit pricing once they have run a machine for a quarter.
How should you compare two quotes?
Normalise both to cost per treated room, then check what is included: chemistry, evidence, re-entry times, records and who is liable. A cheap quote with no method is not a cheap quote.
And ask what happens the second time. Most fogging requirements turn out to be recurring, and the second, third and fourth visit is where the real cost sits.
