How does a fogging machine disinfect a whole room?

Manual cleaning and trigger spraying only treat what the operator can see and reach. A fogging machine disperses disinfectant as a dry mist that travels with the air in the room, so it reaches the tops of cabinets, the backs of equipment, curtain folds, ceiling voids in reach of airflow and the underside of furniture.

How heavy is a fogging machine, and can one person run it?

The fogger weighs only 8kg and is carried by hand. That matters more than it sounds: there are no wheels rolling contamination out of an infected area and into a clean corridor, it fits small rooms and large halls alike, and one member of staff can deploy it without a second pair of hands.

It is also why a leased machine can be moved between buildings on the same group site in a single shift — a lab in the morning, the canteen at lunch, offices before the cleaners leave.

What disinfectant goes into the fog?

Sanondaf's published material on hydrogen peroxide and its environmental impact sets out why it is used in preference to traditional fumigation gases: it breaks down to water and oxygen, leaves no residue and produces no waste output. Independent sporicidal efficacy testing of Sanosil S010 delivered by fogger supports its use where spore-forming organisms are the concern.

For premises tracking carbon and chemical policy, that combination — non-toxic in use, no residue, minutes of energy rather than hours — is usually easier to defend than the alternatives.

What does it cost to fog one room?

One machine comfortably treats up to five rooms per hour depending on their size. Take a conservative two rooms a day — around 60 rooms a month. Against a lease from £500 per month + VAT, that is a per-room cost in single figures once chemical is added, and it does not move whether you treat 20 rooms or 60.

That is the point at which preventative treatment becomes affordable: you stop budgeting only for the operating theatre or the lab and start treating the offices, the canteen, the changing rooms and the soft play as routine.

How fast can you respond with your own machine on site?

With a machine on site and trained staff on the existing rota, a response starts in about five minutes. Waiting on an external emergency response means reporting the outbreak, travel, arrival, finding estates, signing in and moving equipment — realistically 6 to 24 hours, and on vessels away from port anywhere from 24 to 120 hours.
