Disinfection machine hire: matching the machine to the job
Hiring the wrong disinfection machine is an expensive way to learn what each one does. The distinction is not brand or price, it is coverage: what does the machine reach, and what does it leave behind?

There are three broad options: whole-volume fogging for entire rooms, electrostatic spraying for high-touch detail and awkward shapes, and manual cleaning for visible soiling. They are not alternatives — most sites need whole-volume fogging as the backbone and electrostatic detail work alongside it, with manual cleaning always first.

Whole-volume fogging: the backbone
A fogger treats the entire air volume and every surface in it, in one cycle, in minutes. That is the only method that deals with the surfaces nobody wipes — the tops of cupboards, the backs of radiators, cable trays, the underside of desks.
Because it is fast and hands-off, it is the method that scales: one 8kg machine, up to five rooms per hour, on the existing cleaning round.
Electrostatic spraying: detail and awkward shapes
Electrostatically charged droplets are attracted to surfaces far more strongly than gravity alone would carry them — the attraction is around 75 times greater — so they wrap around objects and coat the back and underside of what you spray.
That makes it excellent for chairs, handrails, trolleys, keyboards, vehicle interiors and equipment banks. It is detail work, not room work.
Manual cleaning: still first, always
Neither machine is a substitute for removing visible soiling. Disinfection works on a cleaned surface, and any supplier telling you a machine replaces the cleaning round is selling you a problem.
The correct sequence is clean as normal, then fog, then hang the sign with the safe entry time.
Hire or lease — which machines belong on site permanently?
The fogger. It is the one used most often, needed fastest and cheapest per room once volume builds. Sites treating regularly lease from £450–£550 per month + VAT with chemical from £15 per litre + VAT.
Electrostatic units frequently sit alongside as a second machine where high-touch detail is a daily requirement — hospitality, transport fleets, call centres and gyms in particular.

- Not always. Most sites start with the fogger because it covers whole rooms, and add electrostatic detail work where high-touch surfaces dominate — vehicles, gyms, hospitality and call centres in particular.
- Can one machine cover multiple buildings?
- Yes. At 8kg it is carried by hand between buildings on the same site in a single shift, with no trolley wheeling contamination between areas.
- Is disinfection machine hire available short term?
- We lease rather than short-term hire, but we can attend and supervise a first or one-off treatment at a reduced rate where a lease is not appropriate.
- What disinfectant do the machines run?
